Saturday August 14, 2010

So today Mommy and I went to Edmonds to catch a Rick Steves' Ireland presentation. We learned a lot about neat little places to check out (should we have the time of course) and places we should avoid if we don't want to get caught up in all of the tourist traps and such. Of course we can't put this new-found knowledge to the test when we leave in October seeing as it's schedualed tour, but this made us want to go even more that we already did (who would have thought it possible?!) so I'm sure it's safe to say we'll be back someday and shall then utilize said knowledge. I can't believe we leave in less than a month!!! It's a bummer that Erica's not going to go with us like we originally thought (she decided that since Brandon doesn't have the money to go she's not going either), but mom plans to ues the omney to buy herself a laptop so she doesn't have to bum mine or Tiff's off of us to keep up her blog. And yes, my mom is also blogging about this. But you know what they say; the family that blogs together, sticks together!! Well it's going to be a great adventure!!! I can't WAIT until the day we set foot on the plane at SeaTac Airport and officially start our journey!!

June 19, 2010

So I now know from my mother that pretty much only myself and my family (Tiff included since she's pretty mych family) are going on the trip to Ireland in October. I'm still trying to recruit a couple of my teachers who I know want to go but are still a little on the hesitant side (Mrs. Livernash and Ms. Hitchen). I also know that a couple of women that Tiff and my mom know from work are considering coming, but I have no idea as to the level of their commitment on the whole thing.

Much to everyone's surprise (I'm sure), I haven't been doingmuch in the way of preparing for the trip. I guess that I don't want to get their already knowing everything because that would take the fun out of learning about the culture and history there. I have, however, been readin a book about the Pagan seasons. It has a lot of the mythology behind the traditions in there and is focused mainly on the celtic deities so I'm learning about that. I must admit that I'm surprised that I already know some of what's in there. I'm counting this as an advantage seeing as I'm learning about some of the Celtic history and folklore already.

I still need to talk to Mrs. Greyeyes (my councelor for next year) about whether or not blogging about this trip will count as my senior project. I haven't been going to taekwondo lately so I haven't gotten the chance to speak with her. I'm planning to do so over the summer though.

Well that's all for now folks. I'll post something new as soon as ther's something to post. Until then, addio miei amori!!!

Okay, so I'll admit that I haven't been doing as much research as I'd like. However, I refuse to take responsibility for my actoins (don't you just love my maturity level?) so I'm going to blame the fact that these past two weeks have been crazy as hell! It's a good excues and it's true so HA!

Anywho, I HAVE been at least attempting (please note that I said attempting) to learn how to pronounce traditional Irish. I'm not too good at it, but I also haven't really been trying all that hard. Goodness i sound like such a slacker! Well, I still have...let me count...one...two...three...four...five months (not even) to do so so I'm sure I'll at least get the general idea of it by then (I hope!).

Well like I said, I haven't been doing much that's Ireland related so there's not much to talk about. However, I've pretty much convinced one of my teachers to go on the trip (and ditch her husband in the process 'cause for some unknown reason he doesn't want to go) with me. She's super cool and I really hope she comes!

Looks like that's it! TTFN y'all!
P.S. For all y'all who don't speak tigger, that means Ta Ta For Now!

Ireland Trip 2010

So it looks as though I will finally get to go to the one place I've ALWAYS wanted to visit; Ireland. I recently (and by recently I mean a week ago) found out that the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce is planning a trip similar to the one my mom went on two years ago to China, only this time they're going to Ireland! when my mom told me, I totally freaked out and started telling everyone I know that I was going to go to Ireland in October (even though it wasn't a for sure thing). I've been starting to look up the pronounciations for traditional Irish words. I figure it has to come in handy somehow. I'm also coming up with places that I'd like to go see while we're nearby. My mom and Erica have been doing all of the hotel and plane research so I'm just going to trust whatever they tell me lol. I've also been trying to persuade some people to at least check out the itinerary and see if they can make it work and come along. I feel like it would be wrong of me to just gush about such a great opertunity and not offering it to anyone else. If you want to know anything about the trip, feel free to e-mail me at hellsangel851995@yahoo.com.

What made me start this blog was my mom. She "opened her big mouth!" and suggested that her friend Tiffany, who is coming too!, should write a blog to show to her residents (Tiffany is the ED of an Assisted Living). Well my mother is also an ED at an Al (I copied that from her lol) and realized that she should probably do the same. Now, needless to say, I'm not an ED and I don't work at and AL. however, I know that some of my friends would like to go but can't afford to do so. So I decided it would be cool to blog about the trip, and post the bazillions of pictures I'm bound to take, so that they can at least follow along with my travels. I gues it's kinda like living vicariously through me lol. Then, I got another great idea from a teacher who I had roped into checking out the itinerary and seeing if she could afford to come. I told her of my plans to blog about my trip and she suggested that I talk to my councelor (sorry if my spelling is a little off. I'm not a dictionary you know) about making that my senior project, even though I'm obviously not a senior. She said that if I'm allowed to do that, I won't have to do anything as a senior and that's one less strees that I'll have. I think it's a WONDERFUL idea so I'm checking it out.

I've never blogged before but I think this is a great opertunity to start. I wish that either my mom, Erica, or I had done this five years ago when we were on our London/Paris trip. We were in London at the Tower of London when the Tube bombings occured. I can honestly say that I've never been so afraid of getting lost in a foreign city as I was that day. The streets were so corwded that I felt like it I let go of my mom's hand I would be swept away by the current of people and never see my mom or again. Anywho, I figure this will be a great way to remember everything we experience before and during our trip. I'm not sure how often I'll blog before we leave, but I will FOR SURE blog every day that we are in the Emerald Isle :) .

Wish me luck on my newest adventure! I promise that it will be as fun for you as it is for me :)
